Description

Antique mahogany very tall narrow chest of drawers, made around 1900 probably but reproducing a style from the mid 1700s. Eight graduated drawers; each one is bigger than the one above it, with antique brass drop handles (these are replacements though). String veneering around the edges of the drawers. Shaped bracket feet below. The top is stained pine. The drawers are oak lined. Locks but no keys. Each side is made of one piece of timber, which shows its quality. Condition is pretty good: it's solid and sound; the drawers all slide fine and have no loose joints. At least one foot has been glued back on, slightly out of line. Cosmetically there are various bumps and scrapes, old repairs,s and chips to the veneered parts etc but not a great deal really (see pics). A knot hole in one side and a couple of splits in the sides too but they don't move. Some old woodworm in the bottom which we’ve treated for good measure. The drawer bottoms have been lined with adhesive fabric :o Dimensions: 76cm x 45cm x 158cm
